@MrHarryCole So nearly every Nato country has increased defence spending since the invasion of Ukraine. We haven’t. A one “off” £500 m uplift is a shallow gimmick that assumes no one understands how defence departments work.
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole Would it be fair to say though that the starting points were somewhat different and those others are increasing to where we have been for many years?
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole And it’s your party! @Conservatives @Simon4NDorset come on!!!!!
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole Just how much more money do we want the MoD to waste? You should not fill a bucket, before fixing the bottom of it, which is just one giant hole People elected the conservatives to solve issues like this, and 14 years later it's just as bad or worse as when they came to power
@BWallaceMP @drchrisnewton @MrHarryCole Weren’t you defence minister?
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole Not only that, we're bottom of the European pack for financial assistance for Ukraine, and our military aid is increasingly well behind others with much less public and political support for Ukraine. Quite shameful.
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole Many NATO members were failing to meet the 2% GDP defence spending target. The UK wasn't one of them. The others are playing catch up
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole I wonder who used to be Secretary of State for Defence?
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole Did you resign because the government isn’t taking defence spending seriously?
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole Apparently it’s an open secret Rishi dosnt want to be a war time PM in our top Brass circles & happy to dismiss officer advice.
@BWallaceMP @MrHarryCole The issue is that we've been cutting spending and prioritising on anti-terrorism for decades Turning it around into a Cold War type situation will take lots of money and lots of time, time we probably haven't got unfortunately And the longer we don't do anything......
