I am the only Palestinian American serving in Congress, and my perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced and I will not let anyone distort my words. I’m from Detroit, where I learned to speak truth to power, even if my voice shakes.
How the media works in Black and white Louisvile Bank shooter kills 5 in mass shooting is humanized in headline Homeless and suffering mental health crises is murdered on NYC subway and criminalized in headline
Using the model minority myth & (white) women victimhood tropes to justify the lynching of Jordan Neely. What would Grace Lee Boggs say?

Homeless people also have a right to the city and do not deserve to die when they express all the ways they have been marginalized and are suffering. #JusticeForJordanNeely
Congratulations to our collective member Dr. Michaela Machicote on her graduation today!! 🎉✨🎊🎉
Can we talk about how the professor who called the police on her student for not apologizing to her is identified as Black on this page about the African American Heritage committee in Winston-Salem, which she *chairs*

Black students deserve to attend school and be and feel safe and heard.
This is absolutely NOT how you conduct a classroom, nor is this ever a situation where police should be called. Antiblackness, especially in HBCUs, has the potential to be deadly. The trauma this "educator" caused is inexcusable.

Inventions that would not exist without Black Women. —A THREAD— Valerie Thomas, NASA physicist, invented 3D Movies In 1977, she began to develop the illusion transmitter, the 1st mechanism that allowed images to be viewed in 3D using concave mirrors & rays of light.
@AfricanArchives "I was coming from a little two-room schoolhouse on Denmore Avenue, they called it P.S. 157 and it was the only school African-American kids could go to." Sixty years after Brown v. A nervous young girl sits in the front row. She is the only black girl in her class, Tennessee, 1957.
Just in case people forgot “There has been a total disregard when it comes to recognizing and respecting the intellectual property of Black women. For centuries, people have listened to our ideas and reproduced them without citation.”

White women cannot be "intersectional feminists." Please read Crenshaw and stop bastardizing intersectionality. heinonline.org/hol-cgi-bin/ge…
NBC changed it’s headline, dropping the “law enforcement worker” nonsense they invented, but is now only casting this killer cop as an “ex-Virginia trooper” rather than also as a current sheriff’s deputy. They are really working overtime to hide the facts.
“law enforcement worker” means former state trooper and current sheriff’s deputy. The media is inventing whole new job categories to mask police violence and murder. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/v…
A cop catfishes a teen, kills her mother & grandparents, kidnaps her, & the media styles him as a “law enforcement worker” in its continuous effort to mask police violence & murder. It took NBC 14 paragraphs to identify him as a former trooper. No mention he’s a current deputy.
In 1847, Missouri banned education for black people. John Berry Meachum went ahead and equipped a steamboat with a library, desks, chairs and opened a 'Floating Freedom School'. A THREAD!
Like Robin DG Kelley, Cohen argues that there must be an intention to dismantle and tear down existing normative frameworks and institutions in order to be radical. There must be action and direction.
Essentially, Dr. Cohen explains that being "deviant" or "other" is not a fundamental basis for radical politics. Simply existing in a body that is nonnormative in a space that is normative does not constitute radical politics.

Citibike Karen has deleted all her social media accounts. Don't hide now, bitch. Be as loud and proud as you were when you weaponized your white lady tears and screamed "help" to try and get those young Black men killed.
@AIrishrep No, it's not, you racist piece of shit. You have a long, documented history of anti-Black racism to contend with, and as such, Black people do not owe you the benefit of the doubt. Do not think that you're absolved of anything just because the Brits hate you too.
@AIrishrep No, it's not. Black people do not have a fucking empire. I literally went out of my way to educate my own people about the use of the word "mammies" in Ireland. I coulda just let y'all get cussed out, given the historical (and present-day) anti-Blackness of the Irish.... GTFOH.
@KanaKawase "You all do tend to do this bad thing, but this time was an exception" when talking about Black people reacting to perceived racism is not agreeing with me.
@KanaKawase Thank you, but this is about Black people, not "Americans." P.S. - We notice how often y'all cloak racism in criticisms of American imperialism (while living in fucking Britain of all places.)
@Subimaginati White people are still white peopling OMG STFU
@backpainsback Exactly. I had to tell one of them point blank, "Irish racism isn't absolved just because the English hate you too."
Y'all forgave Chris Brown, and he never matured or respected that grace. How many chances are y'all going to give before he turns into Kanye?
@jduffyrice This is such a privilege and abled-bodied take. Taking days off can cause major financial strains and jobs force you to use PTO IF it exist. Some disabled people like myself can not sit in chair’s especially those hard surface ones for short/long amount of time.
@Jack_Tempest94 @marclamonthill Stop making shit up please....
@Jack_Tempest94 @marclamonthill Your bluecheck gets you a ton of visibility and it's all on these goofy point-missing takes that garner absurdly low levels of engagement. 48.5k views and 23 likes is a hell of a ratio.
@Jack_Tempest94 1) Africa has more than a few kings; 2) i wasn’t referring to their clothing
@cr8communitas @Jack_Tempest94 @marclamonthill I laughed at “simple answer” because they really think that superficially about things that aren’t that simple. I immediately thought, “interesting that African nations would come to celebrate the epitome of colonization, wonder how they rationalize besides meh commonwealth?”
@Jack_Tempest94 @marclamonthill No one is talking about their Kinte. He’s referring to British plunder of Africa, subjugation and enslavement of its people, and the ultimate stripping of the self-sufficiency of the countries they colonized. No reason to celebrate.
@GroupGraves I didn’t ask about their clothing. I was referring to them honoring the monarchy, which had stolen, raped, and killed countless people throughout the globe. A little less condescension and a little more comprehension would be dope.
@spicykezzinnugg He blocked me at some point so I can't post "Things that never happened" in reply.
@spicykezzinnugg Yep, clearly only losers smoke weed
