Liberty ends up as the top-ranked non-power conference champion, giving them the final berth in both hypothetical 12-teams playoffs from the @CFBPlayoff committee and simulated #BCS:
The remaining New Year's Six matchups (Cotton, Fiesta, Orange, and Peach) and complete CFP Top 25 rankings will be officially announced beginning at 2:30pm ET on ESPN.

The simulated #BCS and @CFBPlayoff disagree this year. Which four-team playoff would you have preferred?
The final #BCS rankings came out on 12/8/13. And yet, in every year since then the “BCS” was able to accurately predict the 4 teams the @CFBPlayoff committee chose for its 4-team playoff. That streak ends today. The committee choses Texas at No. 3.
In each of the last nine seasons the simulated #BCS top-4 has accurately projected the @CFBPlayoff teams. The top four simulated #BCS teams this year are: Michigan, Washington, Alabama and Florida State

Just so our friends at @BCSKnowHow don't feel too bad about missing one (for the first time!), I re-ran the 2001 formula, which had added components: schedule strength, penalties for losses (hey, Alabama), and bonuses for quality wins. Michigan, Washington, Alabama, Texas.
@TylerVesely @ReadyCFB No. This is actually bad. The current iterations of the old BCS computers, for the most part, don't care about game results. Massey/Sagarin/Wolfe only care about in-game performance now. Very different than their old BCS formulas. @BCSKnowHow
@BCSKnowHow @CFBPlayoff Actually the BCS bracket is the correct one as the "committee" would swap PSU with Mizz or Ole Miss to avoid any conference rematches in the first round.
I rarely toot my own horn, but I think I deserve props for this.

The old BCS computer formula would’ve put Bama and FSU in and left Texas out. Which would’ve made us all mad too, but at least it would be backed up by numbers and not a room of suits saying “look, we just think this team is better”

The funny thing is the BCS would have had Texas out of the top 4, not Alabama.
The final #BCS rankings came out on 12/8/13. And yet, in every year since then the “BCS” was able to accurately predict the 4 teams the @CFBPlayoff committee chose for its 4-team playoff. That streak ends today. The committee choses Texas at No. 3.
For those of you that don't remember the BCS era of college football, this year is the only year that the BCS rankings disagreed with the CFP - That's every year they have matched up except this one.

Anyway, my biggest beef with the CFP selection process is that we leave the decision in the hands of a room of semi-random people with clear conflicts of interest, allowing legitimate skepticism for whatever decision they make 🗣️BRING BACK THE COMPUTERS
