Very sad to hear that Ronnie Campbell has died. Blyth Valley MP from 1987 to 2019; a former miner who cared deeply about his community and working people. He never ducked an interview, was great company, and full of character humour and passion. He deserved a longer retirement.
@BBCRichardMoss Thanks to you and the team at Look North for your kind words for my dad on tonight's show. None of the family has ever seen the clip of him singing in Parliament. It brought a bit cheer to a very sad day. It was very much appreciated.
@BBCRichardMoss Thank you Richard off the family lovely words
@BBCRichardMoss Ronnie was a good friend of mine and I sent him a farewell message last week. He was a working class hero. Parliament may not see his like again. RIP
@BBCRichardMoss Deeply saddened to hear Ronnie has died. A good man and parliamentarian who stood up for his constituents in Blyth Valley. Ronnie embodied traditional working class values and was a champion for Brexit and stadning up to the EU, going against the grain in the Labour Party. RIP
@BBCRichardMoss Wow so you have mostly career politicians in the UK too? 30 years in an elected office is ridiculous. No wonder our countries are a mess.
@BBCRichardMoss Oh that is sad news indeed I liked Ronnie he was a real character and a really nice guy RIP Ronnie
