Around 200 Israeli personnel—pilots, paratroopers, and other specialists—were trained on Czechoslovak soil, then became key cadres in the emerging Israeli Air Force and other IDF branches. Israeli leaders like Ben‑Gurion and Rabin later said that Czechoslovak arms “saved” Israel in 1948, capturing the sense that without that specific help, the new state might not have survived its first months.
