@Nataliem9999 @Azul_GG @jakekgearhart I think the problem with the discussion is that people have very different ideas about what ICs actually ought to be for in the first place. I would actually guess that TPCi is probably completely unaligned with you guys on this, and that's the root of the controversy.

@manleyfgc @Azul_GG what is equal is your opportunity to earn status as a top player where your efforts would be rewarded. imagine if progressional sports all went to playoffs in a way that was agnostic towards the regular season. every team had a shot to make it there through their season
@manleyfgc @Azul_GG why shouldn’t top players have some kind of preferential treatment? this is not a human rights conversation. it is a meritocracy with winners and losers. everyone has the right to play, compete etc but to argue in favor of a system that rewards performance is not elitist
The ideal and most obvious solution is to just increase capacity, but it seems like we won't get there for the foreseeable future.
Pokemon themselves think certain players have earned their spot with the stipend system, does that make ICs inherently elitist? I think it's healthy for competition/marketing to ensure the top competitors are at these tournaments. As long as 95%+ of reg is kept open.
If we say we think certain players have earned their spot to play at certain tournaments over other players because of their performance and/or dedication to the game It's no longer elitism right?

@cschemanske It's the capstone of the main tournament circuit, a last chance for players to qualify for the World Championships, and above all, a competitive tournament to display and enable the best competition possible.
