Autistic people may be misread as devious and contrived, because we often have to pre-plan everything about an event or situation before we enter. When we do this, it is not with bad intentions; we are just trying to ensure our basic needs will be protected. It’s crisis aversion.
[Please note: - Every (autistic) person is different. - I do not speak for all autistic people. - All perspectives are valid and it is perfectly fine if you don’t relate to the above. ❤️]
@AutisticCallum_ The standard approach seems to be for people to assume that nothing can possibly go wrong as long as they mean well and I'm pretty sure that's why everything is such a massive horrible mess. It's not an approach that works with climate change or pandemics in particular.
@AutisticCallum_ For our wedding party invitations I included lots of details of how to get to the venue, what food there would be, what alcohol was included, what other drinks were available... One guest told me they were the best invitations that they had ever had.
@AutisticCallum_ I’ve never been on the end of the “devious” description, but I hear the “autistics can’t lie” stereotype often.
@AutisticCallum_ Yuppers im premeditated type fosho....
@AutisticCallum_ along with a strong aversion to crisis.
@AutisticCallum_ Joke's on you, I pre-plan everything about an event or situation before I get into it and then immediately forget what I planned the second I get into that situation and then spill spaghetti everywhere. I don't even need autism to achieve this greatness. I'm just socially inept.
