Man, this headline from the Post-Dispatch (1990) sure sings a different tune today huh? 😢 #STLCards #ForTheLou
@AugieNash One of my Mom's close High School friends lived next door to Roger and Pat Maris' Family here in KC when Roger was an Athletic while she was a little girl. Her Dad was the team dentist for the A's, then was in the same role for the Royals, which is how he became friends with the
@AugieNash I was angry at him for a brief period, but immediately understood why he did what he did. That team including the brewery were poison.
@AugieNash I used to love it when the Cardinals would play the Dodgers back when Whitey Herzog and Tommy Lasorda were managers. You never knew what was going to happen when those two characters got together.
@AugieNash I wish Oli would pay tribute to Whitey by retiring out of embarrassment for our current record & last place position in the division. Whitey truly was one of a kind with high integrity. Name another manager that would've resigned because he didn't think he was doing the job well.
@AugieNash Man I wished they’d have kept Jack Clark. I remember Whitey wanted a RH bat (Maybe Tim Wallach) to hit 5th or 6th to help protect him.
@AugieNash Remember in his press conference after he quit? He said he was leaving the team as he had first came to it... with the team in last place. There is never going to be another man like him. This is definitely a sad day from Missouri major league baseball.
