When a thread gets too long, offer a handoff: a starter prompt for a new chat with goals, decisions, files and next steps that I can edit before continuing. Cleaner context, fewer wasted tokens, and I stay in control of what carries over.
What’s one thing that’s missing in codex that you wish we had?
A handoff button. When a thread gets long enough that answers start slipping, Codex should tell me, then draft a starter for a new chat: goal, decisions made, constraints, files touched, open questions. I edit it, hit continue, fresh thread. Compaction happens behind my back. A handoff I can read and fix.
