The basic problem with this sort of thinking is that in practice it looks like the San Francisco planning commission, where all progress is ground to a halt by the crankiest busy bodies who just wear everybody down because normal people hate endless meetings

In fairness to socialists I don’t think the plan this guy outlines for how we decided individual purchases of PS5s under socialism is a very popular one even in their circles lol
@ArmandDoma Rule-by-those-who-love-meetings
@ArmandDoma That was my first thought too. He's literally arguing in favor of NIMBYism being applied to all possible human economic activity
@ArmandDoma The other problem is that these committees have no chance of making a PS5 because committees are famously bad at doing that kind of work even without public input fouling everything up.
@ArmandDoma Under a similar system, in the USSR, my grandfather had to pull favors, because he was a member of the communist party, to get me a bicycle, when I was a child. Not ideal.
@ArmandDoma It's a form of the Heckler's Veto, but where it's the No-Life Cranks you're ceding power to.
@ArmandDoma As opposed to what? People just go and do things based on what they like? [chaos!]
@ArmandDoma Or, as happened in reality all over eastern europe, just create a ton of bribery and a bustling black market. You cannot win vs Supply & Demand.
@ArmandDoma Ballot measures for every PS5 sale. Nobody gets a system unless they can successfully run a catalog that convinces a majority of their city that they should get one.
