We were thrilled to welcome ARGO NCAT (Nigerian Cancer Research Training) scholars to OAU recently for our 2nd Team Science Training! We look forward to supporting our multi-disciplinary teams in their research projects focused on improving outcomes for cancer patients in LMIC!

MSK, in partnership with @OAUniversity, @LUTHofficial, and @medservengr, has launched a ground-breaking clinical trial aimed at transforming treatment options and standard of care for patients with #colorectalcancer in Nigeria. This is the first clinical trial in sub-Saharan Africa to utilize #immunotherapy, a treatment that uses a person’s own immune system to fight cancer. Learn more: bit.ly/4qfe3AQ

Our Global Cancer Research and Training (GCRT) and ARGO team at @MSKCancerCenter were thrilled to host Dr. Erika Ruiz and Dr. Oscar Galindo from INCan (Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia) Mexico to build partnerships and collaborations for improving cancer care for all patients!

Our ARGO and @MSKCancerCenter Global Cancer Research and Training faculty gathered in Tunisia for the @AORTIC_AFRICA meeting – a wonderful collaborative event bringing together oncology researchers from all over Africa and beyond!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Olaejirinde Olaofe, pathologist and lecturer from OAU, @MSKCancerCenter as the first Murray F. Brennan International Soft Tissue Sarcoma Fellow! Building on prior research and leadership experience he will develop a sarcoma database in Nigeria.

ARGO/OAU hosted 15 Nigerian medical professionals for a hands-on 3-day endoscopy training course including lectures, simulations and live cases with expert mentorship by Nigerian and international faculty. Shaping the future of colorectal cancer care! Thank you @DalhousieGSO!

Our NCAT (Nigerian CAncer research Training) program scholars recently gathered in Ife, Nigeria @OAUniversity to present their research ideas and engage in a mock study section grant review – great to see future oncology research leaders gathered together!

Although breast cancer awareness month has passed, breast cancer is always a concern, with many cases detected too late and overall low survival rates. ARGO is driving research to improve early diagnosis and catch breast cancer earlier, saving more lives. #BreastCancerAwareness

ARGO celebrated it’s 11th year with an international multidisciplinary symposium focused on how to “Improve Oncologic Outcomes in Nigeria: Focus on Breast, Colorectal, Hepatobiliary and Cervical Cancer” - Let’s join together to improve cancer outcomes in all LMIC!
