Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens in our country. Today, I was proud to stand on the Capitol Steps alongside with my colleagues in support of Gun Violence Awareness Month. We have the tools to save lives—from expanding background checks to supporting safe storage and community violence intervention programs. Together, we can end this epidemic.

New poll: McClain Delaney maintains a commanding 15-point lead, 52% to 37%, with support now surpassing 50% as voters reject negative attacks and rally behind results-driven leadership. From holding the Trump Administration accountable and stopping the proposed ICE warehouse near Hagerstown to fighting to lower costs for Maryland families, April is focused on delivering for the Sixth District. With support from Governor Moore, Maryland's Democratic congressional delegation, local leaders, and unions across the district, the momentum is growing with just two weeks until Election Day.

The fight against ICE's proposed detention warehouse in Washington County is far from over. Despite recent court victories and ongoing efforts to stop this project, DHS has launched a new environmental review with public comments open through July 1. People are not packages. Yesterday #TeamDelaney joined the Sound of Silence Rally in Hagerstown, because PEOPLE ARE NOT PACKAGES and this warehouse has no place in Maryland. I am proud to fight alongside Team Maryland elected leaders at the federal, state, and local level to Keep ICE Out of Washington County and ban warehouse detention for good.

To Baile Cask & Kettle, thank you for opening your doors and making it such a welcoming afternoon. I had the chance to meet with several incredible non-profits serving our community, leaders who are quietly and tirelessly making Washington County a better place to live, raise a family, and grow old in. I left inspired and even more determined to be a strong partner for them in Congress. I also had the honor of spending time with some amazing Democratic candidates working to turn Washington County BLUE. The energy, talent, and conviction in that room was real. We have a deep bench of leaders ready to fight for working families, for our schools, for our veterans, and for the future of Western Maryland. Most of all, thank you to every neighbor who came out, shared a story with me, and reminded me why this work matters. It was an action-packed weekend with stops across District 6! On Sunday I spoke at the ManaBadi Telugu School convocation, where families celebrated students’ achievements learning Telugu, an Indian language with centuries of history. You could feel their immense pride! I also attended a meet-and-greet in Gaithersburg organized by my friend Anis Ahmed, then joined a Spring Celebration in Frederick hosted by the incomparable Sen. Karen Lewis Young.
