This is highly inappropriate for a children's youth organisation. Scouts serves children as young as 6. Promoting "gender identity" and sexuality campaigns in official messaging blurs lines on safeguarding. UK child protection law (Children Act, Working Together guidance) requires organisations to prioritise welfare, age-appropriate activities, and avoid exposing children to adult political/sexual themes.

Let’s be forensic about what’s actually happening here. A legitimate postgraduate student visa allows you to work up to 20 hours per week during term time. Full-time employment in a care role — especially when you’re living hundreds of miles from your registered university — is a straightforward breach of visa conditions. Journey charity has documented exactly this. Students enrolled in Newcastle and Middlesbrough are working full-time in care homes in Edinburgh and London. Not weekends. Not 20 hours. Full-time. Residentially. The university campus is irrelevant to their actual lives. The Home Office has enforcement powers. It has the ability to audit sponsor universities, revoke student visa licences, and shut down rogue recruitment agencies. It is choosing not to use them at scale. Meanwhile, social care providers — already under pressure — are filling shifts with unvetted individuals whose qualifications are unverified and whose legal right to work full-time simply doesn’t exist. This is a regulatory failure dressed up as a staffing solution. And the government knows it. We now know it, too.
