Just catching up on some of the arguments, I had no idea that they are airlifting pts out of state. JFC the literal definition of patient dumping.

@AndreaR9Md EMTALA stopped that years ago. When I first became a nurse they could refuse to treat a patient. I worked in an ER. Absolutely heartbreaking to me. I wondered what profession I had entered.
@AndreaR9Md This really needs to be a bigger, five alarm fire story. I’m betting at least 60% of voters are unaware. And the SC needs to be a campaign issue; 6 of them are nothing more than a radical, political arm of the GOP. Under the existing court, things will only get worse.
@AndreaR9Md Massively expensive, and medical helicopter flying is one of the most dangerous types of flying to be done.
@AndreaR9Md This happens in mental health services, as well. Many of my CMI patients received type of treatment. The logic was they would fare better in an area with more “services”.
@AndreaR9Md Pretty sure that's gonna show on the bill too. Originating facility should pay and it should be non-reimbursable. Srsly. Just make compliance with state law that conflicts with EMTALA a fiscal liability for facilities and insurers. That shit'll stop so fast!
@AndreaR9Md Yep. And as expected, patient flight insurance is now trending. I doubt this would have been a silver bullet, but I sure wish the ERA had been ratified and published to the Constitution. And wonder if it was blocked for decades for this very purpose.
