AIDEA Responds to NANA Board Decision on Ambler Access Project May 8, 2024 (Anchorage, Alaska) – The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) has received notice of the recent decision by the NANA Regional Corporation Board of Directors to remove themselves from the Ambler Access Project (AAP). This action will result in moving the AAP route to the north of NANA land. This maintains an access route to 600,000 acres of state mining claims. Josie Wilson, AIDEA's Comms & External Affairs Dir. presented the importance of critical minerals in the Ambler Mining District at the Alaska Tribal Transportation Working Group's symposium. These are key components of green energy, cell phones, and many medical advances.

The permitting process determines what a facility may be used for. In the case of the Ambler Access Road, it was permitted through the EIS process, as a private, controlled access, industrial road. Even years from now if they want to open the road to other traffic, they can not.
