The Economist just reminded me why I’ve carried Tocqueville since graduate school. America was never just a nation-state. It was an argument — that free people, organized in voluntary association, could build what neither government nor market could hold alone. The nonprofit sector isn’t charity. It’s constitutional architecture. It’s what Tocqueville saw that Europe couldn’t yet imagine: civic infrastructure as the load-bearing wall of democracy. 250 years in, that argument is being stress-tested. The voluntary sector isn’t peripheral to that test. It’s central to it. #Barnburning #volunteerism 💙❤️🇺🇸

@arms3sara @GuGi263 I’m laughing as I have my dog cuddled up right next to me on the couch. But what I felt so sad with the dog in the picture was it was no bed. It was either the couch or the floor. If you’re not gonna let your dog on the couch at least you gotta give them a nice cozy bed.
