"Putin is a former KGB operative trained to always continue to pursue their objectives, rather than reassessing the goals in the first place." Chilling observation by @PjotrSauer & @Andrew__Roth in a sobering @guardian article. theguardian.com/world/2023/mar…
@AlexGabuev @PjotrSauer @Andrew__Roth @guardian True. It’s just that Putin’s objective from the start has been domestic regime preservation (and the destruction of russophone democracy across much of southern and eastern Ukraine certainly remains an element in his pursuit of that objective.)

@AlexGabuev @PjotrSauer @Andrew__Roth @guardian In Nazi Germany, "forever" lasted 13 years, Putin already 22+ years... 😂
@AlexGabuev @PjotrSauer @Andrew__Roth @guardian They didn’t learn about sunk cost in KGB Business School then I gather..
@AlexGabuev @PjotrSauer @Andrew__Roth @guardian Why? In 1990s we had a lot of ex-KGB come to work at Motorola in Chicago area. They were very practical, did good work and left for better jobs before the company started failing. Smart in goals. What happened in Russia?
