When people talk about waves of COVID, noting that this wave seems to kill few that the 2022 wave, they often ask whether the virus is getting weaker or our immunity is getting stronger. But they miss the third possibility: that we now have fewer highly susceptible people. /2
@AlanBixter We're simultaneously creating new susceptible people. So I suspect some years will be worse than others, based on a buildup of susceptibles due to reinfections and new chronic illnesses. This is a terrible situation and I worry about children. How much can their bodies bear?
