SFA is giving us the bare minimum of safety and fair pricing on tuition this semester. We demand that they take safety of their students FIRST over getting paid Joined July 2020-

.@SFAPresGordon What are you planning on actually doing for the safety for students and faculty this fall, if anything. Do you plan on answering any questions at all or will you keep diverting them to Dr Peck and continue to avoid them?

@DrAdamPeck @Jmanning1852 ESPECIALLY considering students will be coming from large cities across the state, which have been getting hit hard by COVID-19. To assume that students won’t arrive already infected is dangerous and can be prevented, through mail out tests.
@DrAdamPeck @Jmanning1852 I don’t think it’s fair to the staff and professors who could be infected day one from lack of preventive measures, I pledge, of course, but good luck to students in dorms who have no way of knowing if their roomate is already infected on move in day.
While this is a good thing to have; this is a meaningless platitude compared to all the stuff that ISN’T being done

Students should not be bullied into being okay with paying full tutition for a half assed semester at a school that isn’t prioritizing our safety.
imagine getting defensive about a college kid who just doesn’t wanna pay full tuition price for a school that isn’t providing 100% of its services because of a pandemic
Its amazing that SFA’s response to what to do when you get covid at school is “hey just go to class” really great job to @SFAPresGordon for making sure students safety comes first
So there isn’t actually an answer for this other than: Don’t get it. Great Job to the SFA administration for taking its students health and safety seriously!
@waugh_luigi You would only quarantine if you were in "close contact" with an individual as defined by the CDC (being within 6 feet of an individual who is not in your household for 15 mins or more) AND you were not wearing a mask. You should not be in close contact w/ anyone in your class.

@Jmanning1852 Since all classes should allow for distancing, and you'll be in a mask, you won't necessarily have to isolate. But contract tracers will be contacting anyone who is in a class with an employee who has gotten sick.
How are professors going to continue lessons when they get sick or when they don’t have a contingency plan for their entire class getting sick because SFA isn’t providing real options for online education and proper social distancing?
Who is paying for students tests when they are afraid they are sick but dont have health insurance? What is being done about them being absent from their in person classes since online is barely an option? What are the professors doing? Will their in person class move online?
Students this fall will be paying a flat fee for online and in person tuition. If they are the same price why do they not have the same accessibility? We all know that online and in person education are not the same so why are we being charged as if it is.
Professors and students are going to be human cess pools for disease. They’ll be around 100+ different students all day every day. And thats just their on campus life. We need more options for online classes to reduce chances of infection for professors and students alike
What’s not being provided this fall for students to be safe: No masks provided Online classes for major specific classes Cleaning lecture halls, classrooms, eating areas in between uses One on one teaching and help will be almost nonexistent and at the least, dangerous

This is so sad. I am so scared. My classmates are scared, my professors are scared. This is not promising, this is terrifying.
Today, the Provost reported that as of last Friday, 51% of SFA's classes this fall are slated to be Face-to-Face, 17% online, and 28% hybrid (could be accessed either way). That means 45% can be accessed remotely and 79% can be accessed on-campus. To me, this is very promising!

We normally recieve 2-3 emails about students who have passed away throughout the semester. It’s always extremely sad. Imagine this Fall when we get 2-3 emails every few days or so. Immunocompromised people are being asked to put their lives on the line for an education.
@DrAdamPeck Immunocompromised students will be sitting ducks for infection in a classroom environment. 17% online accessibility? Yet all of our homework is online? Because that makes sense. Not even enrolled currently, but concerned for my friends.
