I went to two different showcases today and the fact still remains… MOST players simply don’t know what college coaches are looking for!
@Adio10 And….shooters are few and far between. These kids need to spend more time on catch and shoot and bag the 5 dribble side step crap.
@Adio10 Correct me if I’m wrong please…I think most coaches are different in what attributes/qualities they look for when scouting these high school athletes. It just depends on the college program and the principles it holds.
@Adio10 The people who run showcases would help everyone involved by 1st 30 mins showing kids different common actions ran in college. Then 30 mins of 4 in 4 half court with a shot clock FIBA style before ANY full court play
@Adio10 If any college coach can successfully scout a showcase then props. Showcases in most cases are a money grab, one-on-one, random throwing together of players who don't know each other. Club basketball needs a lot of work but showcases are not the ideal spot to get recruited.
@Adio10 I used to work the Mullens JC showcase for two summers. Jerry would stop games and bring both teams in and essentially rip a new one if it was nothing but me ball. To many showcase directors do it for money vs helping kids. Best HS exposures had same trait director or his coaches
@Adio10 Bad showcases are part of the reason we have less and less true bigs. They don't get the ball when coaches are there so they just float. I wish bigs understood if a coach is watching you at a showcase they are looking at how big you actually played.
@Adio10 Then their Coaches are failing them. They need to teach them what coaches are looking for.
