@IamAroke Format doesn't matter. Still requires engineering. The same idea was pushed that SQL was a threat to developers. Frameworks were a threat to developers. LLMs are a threat to developers. These tools can all make a developers job easier/faster/whatever. None are a replacement.

@ChoochSkookum Buy a cheap tool as needed. If what you need can be purchased as a set, like a mechanics socket set, do that. When the cheap tool breaks or wears out, it's a sign you use it enough to buy a high quality tool.

@jamonholmgren @benwmaddox Nah, don't get more esoteric. You go down weird rabbit holes like compact custom width types that fit your data and require a ton of upkeep, or trying to add in rapid compacting/uncompacting. You quickly go from ~pure gains to making tradeoffs between app speed and bandwidth.

@ThePrimeagen The internal debate at work isn't about whether or not we should use AI, but how we can manage it in a way that increases velocity without sacrificing quality, documentation, or knowledge of the codebase. The other open question has become, is it even cost effective?

@lietzmk @GJ72565360 @BannedV1doz She was travelling too fast in what looks like a slightly older vehicle. I did something similar in a '98 civic going like 40mph around a pretty mild curve. Back end let go, I hit the brakes because I was young and dumb, and the back end became the front end.

@angelroom0 Eh, I have to disagree on need. We need a solution, and kernel level anti-cheats are one possible solution. Of course, other solutions tend to be things like making it illegal to distribute software or hardware to cheat in online games... Has as many or more problems.

@reprise_99 I got a ticket a few years ago. Backup system was failing for a customer. Come to find out, HR was putting emojis in file names, and the backup system was not prepared to process Unicode characters in file paths. My beard got slightly greyer that day.

@GloriousEggroll Sure, every piece of software increases attack surface. I'm less concerned about the multi-billion dollar development studio that has a serious concern for security as I am sketchy software for my mouse and RGB accents produced by interns.
