Environments like wastewater, soil, and hospitals act as mixing grounds. Perfect conditions for resistance to spread and persist. By the time a resistant infection shows up clinically, it’s often just the visible part of a much larger problem.

Antibiotic resistance doesn’t start in hospitals. By the time we see it there, it’s already spread. We often think resistance develops during treatment. Sometimes it does. But often, it already exists before the drug is even used.

@GutFirstHealth Gene transfer and bacterial communication are key drivers of resistance. But “preventing or reversing AMR” in the microbiome is far more complex in practice, especially given how stable and widespread these mechanisms are in natural systems. But hope for the best!!
