Eric Hovde's first week of campaigning has included talk about debt and public safety. But his focus on debt under the Biden administration ignores a bigger trend, and tying "defund the police" to concerns about Milwaukee crime also omits key context: cbs58.com/news/fact-chec…
@AJBayatpour Dude. We had to pass a bill to prevent democrats from defunding the police. “Much of the floor debate focused on crime rates in Milwaukee and city officials' decision to reduce the number of officers in the police department by 120 officers”legis.wisconsin.gov/assembly/71/sh…
@p8riot Dude. Try reading the article. The force reduction only came after years of cuts to other city departments. And even then, MPD's share of the city budget remained the same between 2020 and 2023.
@AJBayatpour @p8riot But the officers didn’t. Officer numbers have gone down pretty much consistently in the city from 2018 numbers… even though crime has exploded
@sharky_politics @AJBayatpour @p8riot Liberals can't think. Realize they are mental midgets who sees a very small window. When we say "defend the police" all a liberal will do is look at the total budget and say "nothing is defunded" they do not look at how the money is spent. We got to explain it CLEAR or else this!
@somewhat22 @AJBayatpour @p8riot What’s sad is @AJBayatpour thinks they’re a journalist.
@sharky_politics @somewhat22 @p8riot At its essence, "defund the police" means cutting police resources and reallocating them elsewhere. If simply reducing police funding is defunding, then 253 Wisconsin munis defunded their police between 2018-19. Those are facts, as opposed to this bad-faith internet screeching.
@AJBayatpour @somewhat22 @p8riot Holy shit did you miss your short bus to school there little moron or what? 2018 Milwaukee Police Force: 1800 officers 2024 Milwaukee Police Force: 1600 officers Per capita 2018: 331/officer 2024: 354/officer Moving resources to places that don’t prevent crime is defunding
@sharky_politics @somewhat22 @p8riot MPD as a share of Milwaukee's budget: 46.6% in 2020, 46.9% in 2023. The city didn't "move resources." It has been cutting them across the board, which was the point of exploring Hovde's comments. Sadly, you've still failed to comprehend this.
@AJBayatpour @somewhat22 @p8riot 46.9% didn’t go to the police departments to hire police. Jesus fucking Christ it’s like you don’t understand budgeting
@sharky_politics @somewhat22 @p8riot Lol and now we get to the racism and goalpost moving. You seem awfully upset, shark. Maybe a cup of hot tea and a bit less Newsmax will help you calm down.
@AJBayatpour @somewhat22 @p8riot Racism? Where? Also I notice you didn’t dispute my claim.
@AJBayatpour @sharky_politics @p8riot Also What kind of marketing idea is "CBS 58"? That is so wisconsin. Why not 2? 3? 4? 5? 6? 7? 8? 9? Etc. 58 is for like the guy broadcasting his homemade show for local public access
