In preparing to preach Matt 6:25-34, I’ve been helped by this thoughtful booklet by @jryandavidson. It does not fall prey to the reductionistic assumption that all anxiety is sin, while taking seriously our need turn to the Lord and His gospel in all our worries.

The formal cause explains why Heraclitus is not one Heraclitus one second and an entirely different Heraclitus the next second. While change is a constant for contingent being, it's not the only constant. We can thank Aristotle for this insight.
Some things deserve replies. Some things don’t. Some things are worth the response. Some are not. Wisdom applies.
A cause is anything without which some contingent thing would not be what it is. If God’s attributes are other than His own esse yet explain what He is, God is caused. Divine simplicity, then, is integral to affirming a consistent doctrine of aseity.

I've heard several pastors defend the idea that it takes (or should take) 30–40 hours to prepare a sermon each week. Do any of you spend that much time? That seems crazy, but I've heard it more than once this week. For reference, most of my sermons take 8 hours of preparation.
In preparing to preach Matt 6:25-34, I’ve been helped by this thoughtful booklet by @jryandavidson. It does not fall prey to the reductionistic assumption that all anxiety is sin, while taking seriously our need turn to the Lord and His gospel in all our worries.
