New from @andscape: NFL head coaching jobs are supposed to be about merit. So we removed race from coach openings over the last 10 years and see who had the best resume amongst job candidates (w/ @domdemoedesigns, @lukeknox): andscape.com/features/nfl-c…
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox I had a hard time making sense of the story. Why cherry pick certain hires instead of giving us a complete list of hires and candidates (including the black HC's that were hired), so a fair analysis can be done?
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox Why is it that black men only make up about 6% of the total population, but about 70% of NFL players are black?
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox This is laughably myopic. As if the only criteria for selecting a head coach are Age, winning %, and unit rank. Tell everyone you don't know ball without telling everyone you don't know ball.
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox Just FYI: the picture of Adam Gase isn’t Adam Gase, it’s actually Darren Rizzi.
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox After reading these compairisons, it seems that age was a much more predictive factor than race. In all but two examples, the younger candidate was selected. I'd like to see more examples where age was less of a factor in these sort of instances. Is that possible?
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox If you want a HC job... apply to be a coordinator with the 49ers. Outside of that, it's obvious every other franchise just can't do the job.
@10zJohnson @andscape @domdemoedesigns @lukeknox this was genuinely bad. The Rooney Rule sucks but maybe put some time and thought into this instead of a gimmick that cherry picks stats that may or may not be criteria for hiring a coach. Be better. ESPN needs a talent overhaul lol
