Fathers have failed their children. South Africa’s “official” unemployment rate is 32.7%. The expanded rate, including discouraged workers, is closer to 43–44%. Youth unemployment sits above 60%. Experts say we need 5%+ sustained growth just to seriously reduce unemployment. This would take 20 - 40 years to cut it in half at a growth percent of 5%. (An extremely positve outlook or scenario, but not relealistic) Our economy has averaged under 1% growth for most of the last decade. At this pace, not only will this generation struggle — your children, and your children’s children, will still be unemployed and in poverty. “Poverty is not only inherited through empty pockets, but through the poor decisions of one generation passed down to the next.” #Ramaphosa #ANC #SouthAfrica
