A review of SGDH was undertaken this morning to assess key achievements, identify areas for improvement, and understand patient experiences firsthand through interactions with OPD and IPD patients. The visit covered the ICU, which records 60–70 admissions each month, with nearly 80% of patients recovering sufficiently to return to the wards. The Dialysis Unit continues to serve patients effectively with 20 beds, while the MRI facility is expected to be operational by July. The SNCU, addiction treatment facility, and laboratory were also reviewed, with a focus on strengthening diagnostics, early detection, and cancer prevention. The focus remains on building a stronger healthcare system with greater emphasis on preventive healthcare, while ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality medical care for all.

Had a productive meeting with the Chief Officers of municipalities today to review preparedness for the monsoon and discuss measures to keep our towns clean, safe and well-managed. We reviewed ongoing efforts such as desilting of drains and gutters, pruning of hazardous trees and branches, deployment of 24x7 nodal officers, and identifying unsafe structures that may require precautionary action during the monsoon season. We also discussed strengthening waste management across municipalities through 4-way waste segregation, registration of bulk waste generators, improved waste collection infrastructure, better implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules in high-footfall areas, and stricter action against violations of the single-use plastic ban. As we move into the monsoon, our priority is to ensure that every municipality is prepared, responsive and focused on delivering a cleaner, safer and more resilient Goa.

The saplings planted last year at Sonsodo have grown well and are thriving, demonstrating what sustained care and collective effort can achieve. Encouraged by this success, we have begun the next phase of plantation at the site, reaffirming our commitment to building a greener and more sustainable Goa. My sincere thanks to Hon’ble PWD Minister Shri Digambar Kamat, the officers and staff of the Forest and Urban Development Departments, and everyone who joined us in this green mission. Every tree planted today is an investment in Goa’s future.
