Udonis Haslem explains going at Jimmy Butler during a time out years ago:
“3rd yeah I did go at Jimmy. You damn right. The shit you pull in golden state and that shit he pulled in Chicago talking crazy to Hoiberg and disrespecting teammates in practice in Minnesota ain’t gon fly in the 305. So yeah. I checked his ass.
Call it heat culture or what ever you want but before I let one player disrespect Spo in front of the squad, cut his legs out and disrupt what 15 other guys tryin to get accomplished, I’ll kick his ass. I owe that to ZO and Tim and Glen and the rest of my OGs.”
Jeezy calls out labels for paying young, traumatized rappers millions to rap about killing each other, knowing they could die while labels keep their masters!! 😳
My brother brought his new girlfriend to meet the family and she asked to see the basement within five minutes.
Not casually.
Specifically.
Her: Do you have a basement?
Mom: Yes, why?
Her: Can I see it?
Mom: Right now?
Her: If that's okay.
Nobody knew what to do.
She went to the basement.
Alone.
Stayed for twelve minutes.
Came back up.
Her: Nice foundation.
Dad: (confused) Thank you?
Her: Poured concrete. 1970s probably.
Dad: 1974.
Her: Thought so. Good drainage slope too.
Me: (to my brother quietly) What does she do?
Brother: Structural engineer.
Me: So this is professional?
Brother: She does this everywhere.
Me: Basements?
Brother: Foundations specifically.
Me: At family dinners?
Brother: At all buildings she enters.
She spent the rest of dinner commenting on load-bearing walls.
Her: That column is decorative.
Dad: It's not.
Her: It's not carrying anything.
Dad: How can you tell?
Her: Vibration. I tapped it.
Dad: When?
Her: While you were getting drinks.
Mom: (to my brother) She taps things?
Brother: Professionally.
Mom: And socially?
Brother: Sometimes the lines blur.
After dinner she asked about the attic.
Mom: Why?
Her: Roof trusses.
Dad: What about them?
Her: I want to see if they're original.
Dad: Does it matter?
Her: Only if you care about your ceiling staying up.
Dad: (pause) I do care about that.
Her: Then show me the attic.
She found a minor issue with the bracing.
Recommended a contractor.
Dad called him Monday.
Problem fixed by Friday.
She's invited to every family event now.
Not for the relationship.
For the structural assessments.
Brother knows.
He's fine with it.
When filming THE GOLDEN GIRLS, Betty White would often improv her St. Olaf stories, causing Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan to completely break character. During this taping you can actually see Bea looking off at the director because she knows she's going to lose it 😂
Matthew McConaughey says he witnessed the most Miami thing ever.
Matthew McConaughey: “I see this guy posing on a purple and pink Lamborghini under a palm tree. I’m thinking, ‘Wow, nice car.’”
Guy: “Nah, man. I rented it for the day.”
Matthew: “For what?”
Guy: “My Tinder cover photo.”
A few minutes later…
Another guy: “Hey, can I use your Lamborghini for my Tinder pic?”
Guy: “Sure. Fifty bucks.”
Matthew: “Wait… that’s not your car, and you’re charging people to fake like it’s theirs?”
Guy: “Yep.”
“He wasn’t embarrassed. He was proud of it.”
Miami is a different planet.
Diane lost her job and her apartment within the same week. She lived in her car for three months with her dog, Pepper. When the car stopped running, she had no choice. She surrendered Pepper to Clearwater Animal Shelter and promised she would return. A housing program helped Diane get stable eight weeks ago. She visited eleven shelters before finding Pepper at the twelfth, fourteen months later. When Pepper saw her, he froze. Then he ran. They both went down on the floor and stayed there. A volunteer filmed the whole thing and cried the entire time.
A promise made in a desperate moment turned out to be one worth keeping.
Jeff Teague says Larry Bird had one rule when building a team...
NEVER sign players that played with LeBron. 😭
Bird: "I will never pay anybody that played with LeBron. I would never pick them up on my team."
Teague: "I said, 'Why?'"
"He said, 'Because he make them all look good. They're all really sad'."
"You go get them, and then they're not going to be the same player you wanted."
The Chiefs are unveiling renderings for a newly-renovated Arrowhead Stadium on Wednesday, and I personally hope they go crazy with it.
Make it the house Pat built. Merge the past with the future. Give KC a Super Bowl.
Here's some hasty Photoshop to piss some of you off:
Insane.
Remember when we were all confused as to why Sean Payton was reaming Wilson on the sideline during games last year? Over seemingly nothing?
If Russ had snapped back at Payton during any one of those episodes the team could have suspended Russ for conduct detrimental to the team - thus voiding his contract and giving the Broncos exactly what they wanted.
Now it looks like they’re gonna have to pay him his full contract to play for another team next year.
The bigger man wins. 🫡
