The courtroom updates from the Erisco vs. Chioma Egodi case have been nothing short of dramatic. The judge reportedly advised Erisco to withdraw the case, stating there was no substantial basis for it. However, Erisco’s legal team insisted on proceeding, claiming their sales had declined due to both online and offline boycott campaigns. During the hearing, Erisco’s lawyer presented an “evidence,” but as Inibehe (Chioma’s counsel) began reviewing it piece by piece, the lawyer abruptly requested to withdraw it saying he didn’t want to waste Inibehe’s time. He added that he had additional evidence but had left it at home and would prefer to withdraw this one instead. He then asked for an adjournment. Inibehe responded by requesting ₦500,000 in compensation for the time wasted, noting that Erisco had already been urged by the judge to drop the case. Erisco’s lawyer then closed his interrogation of the witness. Just as Inibehe was about to begin cross-examination, the judge said more time was needed and adjourned the matter to January for final judgment. ⸻ My questions for Erisco are: 1. If the case truly has merit, why was your counsel unprepared and withdrawing evidence mid-hearing? 2. How does suing a customer over a product review help rebuild public trust or improve sales? 3.
