The First Fomoji 😶‍🌫️ Fomojis origin story and the story of the man behind the art! @SwayzeDigital 🫡 This is the first ever Fomoji! Drawn February 2022! And the story of how it all began 👇📙 In @SwayzeDigital words: Hailing from the panhandle of Florida, I spent most my younger days either at the bright, white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico; ripping it up at the gritty, graffiti covered local skate spots; or being a Pokemon fan boy, trading cards or playing Gameboy in the neon lit, 90’s themed food court of the Cordova Mall. Primarily raised by my mother, who was a model in the 80’s and was very keen on fashion, I would be surrounded with copious amounts of fashion magazines and brightly coloured, pattern forward designs in the house ranging from polka dotted window curtains to splattered paint adorning the seat covers in the 1994 Acura Integra, also accompanied with the iconic pair of dice hanging from the rear view mirror. Needless to say my current artistic interest and applications come from the loud and long lived stylings from the time and the second hand inspirations I gathered from the oozing fashion savvy style of my mother. After my eventful high school experience I moved to Oceanside, California with 3 of my best friends to pursue possible sponsorships for surfing or skateboarding but it quickly developed into a 2 year, soul searching party; filled with friendly debauchery, tattoo parlor appointments, early morning surfing, barrel riding and attempted aerials at Oceanside Pier, and late night shredding sessions at the skatepark in Encinitas. After moving back to Florida from Oceanside I became a cook and worked my way up to a Sous Chef at a renowned seafood restaurant in a prestigious hotel on the beach before serving my country in the Air Force as an Avionics Technician for one term. I knew I was always an artist at heart so after my time in the Air Force, around 2013, my mother and I attempted to start an art business and became successful with closing contracts with hotels in Denver, Colorado and being accepted into a fine art gallery in Aspen, CO. My mother made the deals with clients, came up with the concepts, and maintained relations with all parties involved. I was tasked with the graphic design component and helped her with the creation of the pieces themselves. I continued to develop my graphic design abilities and transitioned into digital art with the newfound time I, and everyone else had from Covid lockdowns. Crypto and NFT’s were going parabolic and crazy amounts of hype were surrounding the tech so I decided to try my hand at it all; creating my “Pop Art by Swayze Digital” collection on Ethereum. The Aussie @SanjFomojis from Twitter purchased one of my pieces in January 2022 and proceeded to offer me a contract to be the artist for a NFT collection he had some ideas brewing for. The collection was to satirically personify or illustrate the common and ubiquitously used crypto and stock market terminology, for example words or phrases like Bullish, Bearish, To The Moon, WAGMI, NGMI, Gas Wars, Dead Cat Bounce, Wen Lambo? and loads more. I drew hundreds of illustrations and my favorite was when I had to personify the acronym FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). I thought to myself, “FOMO makes me feel sad, if I was to be the one to miss out.” The first thing that came to mind was the little yellow sad emoji in my phone. I decided to draw it out on my iPad and make a few alterations to it, adding piercings and little tattoos here and there. By the end I was blown away by the little guy I dubbed, Fomoji. When I submitted that day’s group of illustrations to Sanj, I told him the name of the FOMO character and he was immediately struck with a brilliant impulse to change gears and focus on the Fomoji character as its own stand-alone generative collection with varying clothing, facial expressions, tattoo designs and hats. After almost finishing the collection we began to become pretty sick of what we were seeing on ETH, we wanted to do something unique and meaningful, and didn’t want to be ‘just another PFP project on ETH’ so we put the project on ice. If it wasn't for ordinals Fomojis may have never come to life. But fast forward to early February this year, Sanj slid into my DM’s and basically said drop everything, we need to get Fomojis onto BTC ASAP! We didn’t know exactly what it would become but we knew instantly that we wanted to help build on the longest, most decentralized blockchain! Bitcoin is and always will be the ultimate Blockchain! And the opportunity to get involved and help set the culture from the beginning was too good to pass up! 48 hours later and barely any sleep we inscribed the 100 Genesis Fomojis with the help of @hash_bender sub 25k! Here we are 9 months later with an incredible community that have embraced the the fun little punk rock characters we call Fomojis! We’ve innovated and fallen in love with the community and building on Bitcoin and now is the time for our tight knit community to go to the next level!! Fomojis 2.0 are here! 100 was never enough for the community we ultimately wanted to build. We started by proving ourselves with a tightknit core Genesis community of absolute legends, and now it's time to expand! Over the next few weeks more about the innovation, art and culture we’ve built will be revealed! So get involved and come along for the ride 🤙 This little guy is just getting started! 😶‍🌫️
