The source also claimed Washington made a concession regarding the closure of the southern shipping route in the strait. These claims have not been independently verified.

BREAKING: Iran directly rejects Trump's claim of new US-Iran negotiations starting this Monday afternoon, saying Iran is currently not having any negotiations with the United States and will not receive any delegations in the coming days nor visit another country, per Tasnim. Iran clarifies its only negotiations are with Oman, and are focused purely on creating a new temporary route through the Strait of Hormuz, which will not be the current northern or southern route, but a third route fully controlled and managed by Iran, with every ship needing Iranian permits for passage. There’s a really interesting paradox in Iran that folks are still missing: Iran is undoubtedly in a weaker position militarily, but they’re in a far stronger strategic position than they were prior to the war. Historically, they’ve projected power via proxies and Quds force embeds. Their proxies are the weakest they’ve ever been, and Iran’s ability to project power is largely unchanged. They’ve learned they can simply attack the gulf states directly, and that they can hold the global economy hostage almost at will. That’s a lot of leverage that I don’t see them giving up willingly. I’m pretty skeptical this round of talks will go anywhere.
