Re: Citizen Vigilante Effective movies are stand alone pieces of art where you don’t even know you’re being fed and absorbing the intended messaging, it naturally makes you sympathetic and or leads you to come to it’s intended conclusion Citizen Vigilante is a piece of political messaging trying to be a piece of art. It puts the cart before the horse and thus fails to achieve its intended purpose on either end. It’s not effective political messaging, and fails at being a stand alone piece of art I reiterate from my earlier poast below that I’m absolutely not saying the right shouldn’t make films about contemporary issues, we should engage in cultural endeavors, but if we’re going to do so it should be understood as “art that conveys a message” rather than “a message that happens to be in the form of art” this distinction is extremely important, and I hope future creators understand this and act accordingly

I watched Citizen Vigilante so you don’t have to Incredibly mid movie, acting is meh (lead is decent, everyone else is bad), plot isnt compelling, pacing is poor, build up is bad The last 20 mins or so when he SPOILERS BELOW Kills the judge and then executes the migrant family and the rape gang should just be its own standalone clip, the first 4/5ths of the movie adds almost nothing The major message of “migrants are killing and raping native europeans, and the legal system is letting them get away with it” is obviously very important and I’m glad some people are attempting to create media portraying the problem but if you weren’t already sympathetic to the cause I don’t know how this can be compelling Even the opening scene with the mother and her child exiting the grocery store then she’s cartoonishly stabbed in the neck with a 12 inch blade doesn’t garner any sympathy because there’s no build up or buy in towards the character, it’s just a blonde woman getting stabbed by a black guy, real news stories are far more effective than this towards “supporting the cause” Overall, incredibly mid, clip the last 20 mins from the judge onward but thats it and I hope we continue to see efforts at RW media in the future that can surpass this in both messaging and as a standalone piece of art
