While Obama, Hillary, and Panetta were at Andrews AFB on September 14, 2012 putting on the dignified transfer show for our brothers… The Annex team and DS team was still in Germany. We got left there on purpose so we couldn’t be at that ceremony. When we landed at Ramstein, the USO was waiting on the tarmac. They knew we left everything behind in Benghazi, so they had clothes, shoes, socks, and toiletries set up for us. The Tripoli Embassy people who had all their luggage and plenty of time to pack went through the line first. As we sat there just watching, they took every last damn thing. Socks, Underwear, Pants, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Mouthwash, all of it. Looked like flies hoarding on a fresh pile of shit. They couldn’t get to the stuff fast enough. Nothing left for the guys who still had blood on their boots. As the whole team from Benghazi just sat there looking at these flies, the @The_USO team came up, talked to us, and asked if we were the guys from Benghazi. They left and came back with a couple hundred bucks each on a card so we could go buy clothes and toiletries the next morning, thank GOD! We got debriefed again in Germany and asked if we wanted to talk to the FBI. We looked at each other this was a terrorist attack. The military should be handling it, not treating it like some criminal case. We learned about the ceremony and had to watch that whole thing from Germany. Then once their ceremony was over, they came to us and said, “You can go home now… but you got to find and buy your own plane ticket back.” We watched the whole “it was a video protest that turned into a riot” lie from Germany as well and knew every word of it was bullshit. That’s what we were doing while they put on the show. Never forget.

This summer has been HOT. No matter human, dog, or wild animal, it’s been tough to escape the heat some days. Lexi Daniel was out hiking when she came across a German Shepherd and his owner. The dog was lying on the ground and “panting with heat exhaustion.” She gave the dog what water she and her group had left, but she feared it would only scratch the surface. The dog was in dire need of help. That’s when K. Salapek, a park ranger, who was also present, picked up the German Shepherd and slung him over his shoulders, something she said the owner was not capable of doing himself. Salapek began the several mile-long rocky descent with the heavy dog wrapped around his shoulders. When the group reached a stream, Salapek stopped and placed him in the water to cool him off. And then Salapek continued the trek down the mountain with the German Shepherd on his shoulders. “This ranger SAVED this dogs life. This is a HERO,” Daniel wrote on Facebook. “This dog probably wouldn’t have made it without him.” Weeks later, Daniel shared an update and said the dog was doing just fine."

For nearly a decade, 78 year old Air Force veteran Charlie Hicks followed the same routine in Pensacola, Florida. Every day he walked into Shrimp Basket, ordered a cup of gumbo with a little rice and no crackers, and spent time talking with the staff. He wasn't just another customer anymore. He had become part of their daily lives. Chef Donell Stallworth knew Charlie well. They argued about baseball, laughed over their favorite teams, and talked about life between lunch and dinner. There was no answer. As he was about to leave, he heard a faint voice calling for help. The door was unlocked. Inside, Charlie was lying on the floor. He had fallen, broken two ribs, become severely dehydrated, and had been unable to get up or call for help. Emergency responders were called immediately, and doctors later said the quick response likely saved his life. Charlie spent about a week in the hospital before moving to rehabilitation for several more weeks. During his recovery, the Shrimp Basket staff kept visiting him, bringing his favorite gumbo and making sure he never felt alone. When they learned his rent was increasing, they found him a new apartment close to the restaurant, helped clean it, furnished it, and even helped him move in. They decorated his walker with messages of encouragement, and when Charlie finally returned to the restaurant, he was welcomed home with free gumbo for life. Looking back, Charlie said he believed he would not have survived if Donell hadn't come looking for him. It wasn't a rescue by a stranger. It was a life saved because someone noticed that a familiar chair had been empty for just a little too long.

We are red for a reason here. If I wanted to be Massachusetts or or Maryland or New York, I would fking move there. But of course, your home town goes to sht, you can’t afford to live there anymore, so you move down here on the gulf coast where it’s relatively inexpensive to live, it’s CLEAN, & super low crime, and yet, you STILL vote the same way. Words cannot describe how much we deep south Southerners fking DESPISE you.
