Why is Trump being blamed for a grocery inflation spike that happened under Biden? Under Biden, grocery prices rose 23%. Grocery inflation hit 13.6% in 2022, the worst since 1979. Under Trump, it was 2.1% in Aug. 2026, about half the average since 1971.

Elon announced the election was over before the polls closed. Every swing state went to Trump when the down ballot was democrat. This was statistically impossible.

Inflation Facts Most people think inflation is higher today than under the Biden years and in fact the Fed did raise interest rates over fears of renewed inflation. But the facts are something else. Under the President’s first term inflation was under 2 per cent a year and ended at 1.2 per cent in 2020. Then during the Biden years inflation soared to 8 per cent in 2022. A total of 21.4 per cent of price increases. Then in the second term inflation has averaged about 2.7 or total increases so far even with the tariffs and Iran conflict at 5.4 per cent. So inflation has come down from 8 per cent to around 3 per cent. Gas was most expensive in 2022 at 3.95 a gallon, more expensive than today. Those are the facts plain and simple.

Product released from reserves still generally enters the market at the global price. To truly get the price down, we need to resolve global challenges with supply and refining capacity. We’re keeping prices down in Canada by pausing the excise tax on gas, giving a groceries and essentials benefit to those who need it most, and working with provinces and companies to increase global supply, alleviating upward pressure.

This reminds me of two scenes in the German movie “Downfall,” which depicts, historically accurately, Hitler’s last days. Both scenes involve Hitler and Albert Speer discussing Hitler’s “Nero Order,” by which the Führer had ordered the destruction of the Reich’s remaining economic infrastructure.
