The UK pledged £25 billion to Ukraine between 2022-2026. This is what an equivalent £6.25 billion annual budget could do for the British public: - Insulate 2 million homes to permanently cut energy bills. - Build 40,000 council houses to slash housing waitlists. - Pay for 50,000 nurses AND 25,000 doctors to clear hospital backlogs. - Fund free toddler childcare for every working family. - Cap all local bus fares at £1, cut train fares by a third, and double rural routes to cut commuting costs. It can do any of those. Every single year of the 4 year pledge. If spent on one, such as housing, then 160,000 could have been built in total. Meanwhile, between 2022 and now, local councils in England built an average of only 2,000 to 3,500 council houses per year. Stop fueling foreign wars. The British people deserve better.

NEW: Green Party leader Zack Polanski has written to Louise Haigh to ask if she stands by her past comments calling Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide. On 4 June last year, Haigh said in parliament it was ‘impossible to conclude that this is anything less than a genocide’. She asked the FCDO minister Hamish Falconer if he will ‘reflect the will of this House to the Foreign Secretary and the Cabinet that sanctions be imposed immediately on Netanyahu and his genocidal regime’.
