ASSAULT NEAR WOOTTON HIGH SCHOOL INVOLVING 20 SUSPECTS ON MOPEDS: “On May 14, 2026, at approximately 11:52 a.m., officers from the Rockville City Police Department responded to the area of Wootton Parkway and Rockshire Place for a reported assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently recovering. At this time, the victim has been unable to confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident and has been uncooperative with investigators. Witnesses reported that a group of approximately 20 males on mopeds assaulted the victim with a blunt object before fleeing the area. Investigators believe the offenders are from areas outside of the City of Rockville. Although this incident occurred in close proximity to Wootton High School, there is no evidence that the assault stemmed from anything related to the school, and no students were involved in the incident. The Rockville City Police Department had an officer assigned at Wootton High School at the time of the assault and responded immediately due to the close proximity. We want to reassure the community that there was no threat to students or staff at the school. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this assault and ask anyone with information to contact the Rockville City Police Department at 240-314-8938. Witnesses may remain anonymous.”
