Sanction alert British Columbia! Very dense wildfire smoke is about to cross the border (8am/18th) from out of control wildfires in Oregon & Washington. Time to start threatening them while wringing your hands & whining they aren’t doing enough.
As American politicians rage about Canadian wildfires spreading smoke into our airspace, American wildfires are jumping the border into Canada.
Minnesota wildfires continue to burn, with the Bear Trap Fire in the BWCA now 34,422 acres, crossing into Ontario Canada. The other fire that crossed into Canada is the Thumb Fire, now 15,300+ acres. Smokey conditions moderated fire activity a bit, but it also kept aircraft
Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources was used to buy a $30M govt jet that was quickly sold, costing taxpayers about $200,000 in transaction costs. It’s the same ministry responsible for wildfire management. Ontarians have every right to question Ford’s priorities.

I live in Northwestern Ontario. Right now, the Boreal forest is burning. I'm writing this beneath the dark orange plume from the Quetico wildfires. These are some of the reports coming out as communities fight to survive: "No fire crews left for new fires." "We had no warning." Families are self-evacuating by private boat across lakes because they didn't receive evacuation information. They're fleeing towering flames with nothing but the clothes on their backs. This is unacceptable in a province as wealthy as Ontario. I'm calling out Doug Ford. His government has underfunded Ontario's wildfire management capacity by tens of millions of dollars. @fordnation you want our Ring of Fire, our water, our forests.
