@UOrangemen Depends on the coach, I had a parent deliberately tell the kid to do opposite of what I saying. I just ignored the parent. Later found out that the root of the issue had nothing to do with me at all lol. I still treated the kid the same and now he’s like a son to me
@UOrangemen It shouldn't affect how we coach the players In some situations when players can't separate themselves from their parents mind of their own their game speaking for college now, that still should not affect how we coach them but it will affect if we will want them back on a team.
@UOrangemen When they create fake twittere/ ig accounts to talk shit
@UOrangemen This is what is wrong with youth and HS athletics. I have been on all 3 sides. Player, parent, and coach at HS level. It’s changed character and culture of the players. Parents(not all)are causing a disconnect from player/coach player/team. EVERYONE INCLUDING PARENTS MUST BUY IN!
@UOrangemen I think parents can make an athlete’s situation much worse. You know the old phrase, you aren’t just recruiting the athlete, you are recruiting their whole family. I’ve seen some absolute nightmare parents lately in D-I college basketball, and they can create morale nightmares.
@UOrangemen …As a coach you have to develop several skills as well as having the ability to deal with parents without causing them a discomfort
@UOrangemen I was told by more than 1 coach, they look at the parents and how the parents with the kids as well. They don't need the drama. Easier to pass on that situation.
@UOrangemen Yes! Those conversations should be had between the player and coaches. If there is a issue of safety physically or mentally then that is a different story cause not going to have my child at risk. Outside of that kid don’t need additional negative energy from the stands
