The Indian IT industry is at a crossroads. In more than a decade of executive leadership, I had never let anyone go - until last week when we parted ways with 2 team members. The reason wasn’t a lack of opportunity. It was a refusal to learn, upskill, and improve. The future will not reward headcount. It will reward adaptability, ownership, and outcomes. As harsh or cynical as it may sound - Indian IT’s next chapter will be written by people who keep learning faster than the world changes.

There are days, and then there are days. The kind that stay with you long after they’re over. Just to be clear - the organisers did an amazing job, it was a great gesture to offer these additional snacks apart from breakfast, lunch and high tea. That too for a conference which had free attendee tickets. If only the audience behaved & understood that this is not an “all that you can loot” offer!

Other countries - I’ll go to a conference today to learn something new. India - I will go to a conference today to grab lots of swag & munch on as much free food/ snacks I can get. This video is not from a marriage ceremony or bhandara. It is from one of the top tech conferences in India showing how we Indians are addicted to free food. I did not even record the part after this when people just pushed the volunteers aside and ransacked the shelves. I shot this video at 11:01 am, the second pic is from 11:05 am - empty racks as if nothing existed. For what it’s worth, this is an elite invite only event in the Silicon Valley of India - Bengaluru.

I don't understand what's wrong with Indian founders who bring 3-4 people camera crews to conferences and startup events to cover them like they're a Sam Altman or Sundar Pichai. For them, every moment on stage, every panel, coffee, a casual interaction and handshake is content. Perhaps, build something meaningful first?

Brilliantly said - it's a matter of priorities. I run my own startup with over 150 employees. I work in a hands-on role as an enterprise architect, I travel and speak at events regularly and I take time out for my learning. I read a book (not related to work) for 30 mins everyday before going to bed. If only people understood how to balance everything they want to do.

No one is that busy - hear me out. I work at Google as a software engineer. I create content across Youtube, Instagram, X and LinkedIn. I go to the gym and complete my protein intake. I reply to my friends within minutes. I call my family daily. It's a matter of priorities
