Why do people react so differently ? Look at the case of Chad Doerman.he got 3 life sentences and the public hated him! However In #LindsayClancy’s case, people have so much empathy for her. Doerman (then 32–33) fatally shot his three biological sons—Clayton (7), Hunter (4), and Chase (3)—with a .22-caliber Marlin rifle in and around the family’s home on Laurel Lindale Road. He told the police about connections to the CIA and alleged that his wife had poisoned him. He also referenced the Bible in comments about killing family members and admitted planning the killings for months, saying the thoughts weighed on him heavily enough that he had not slept for days beforehand. Defense experts later argued he was experiencing mental health issues at the time (one opined bipolar disorder; others referenced psychosis or serious mental illness). A court-appointed expert disagreed that any condition met the legal threshold for not knowing the wrongfulness of his actions. He pleaded guilty in August 2024 and received consecutive life sentences.

I'm no Democratic socialist, but yesterday the New York City Council approved $1.5 million in funding to help keep pets with their families. This includes much needed funding for spay/neuter surgeries supporting pet owners, rescuers and TNR volunteers. It also included funding for pet food pantries to make sure no family has to choose between feeding themselves or feeding a pet. This is the kind of investment that can help reduce stray animal populations and help people be better pet owners. It's something that could be done all across the country. If this is "socialism," sign me up. 🐾 #ThanksMamdani
