A doctor receives an emergency call to urgently operate on a young boy. He responds immediately and after about half an hour walks into the hospital very quickly and goes straight to the theatre. Just outside the theatre he runs into a very unhappy father who summarily starts shouting at him. “Why did you take so long to get out of here? My son’s life is in danger and everyone is waiting for you. Don’t you have any sense of urgency, doctor”, asks the father very unhappy. The doctor smiles and replies kindly, “I’m sorry sir, but I wasn’t at the hospital and after I received the emergency call, I came as quickly as I could…. And now I expect you to calm down so that I can do my job”. “Calm down… you expect me to calm down! What would you do if it were your son in this room right now. What would you say if your child were to die right now? “We doctors cannot prolong lives if God’s will is otherwise, but I promise that by His grace I will do the best I can for your son… so the best thing you can do now is to wait quietly and pray for your son,” the doctor replied. “It’s easy to give advice when it doesn’t affect you personally,” are the last words of the distraught Father that the doctor hears as he enters the theatre. After what felt like several hours, the doctor emerges from the theatre with the words, “Thank you Father, we were able to save your son’s life. If you have any questions, please ask the nursing staff on duty. They will be able to answer all your questions, but I have to go now.” With that, the doctor quickly walks down the hall and disappears around the corner. “Cheerful, but the man has an attitude about him. Quite inept too! Why couldn't he just stay a few minutes longer to answer all my questions about my son's condition first. That's totally unprofessional," the father vented on the doctor. The sister waited until the father gave her a chance to answer and with tears in her eyes she told the distraught father, "Doctor was at the funeral service of his only son when we called him earlier to come and operate on your son. His son died in a car accident and he rushed back there to support his wife. Other people's path, story, choices, life and journey on earth are none of our business. So we don't have to agree with it, understand it, speculate about it, discuss it or judge them, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT WALKING THEM! TWO FAMILY TIED UP DURING FARM ATTACK NEAR PAARL A farm attack and home invasion were reported near Ridgeback Winery in Agter Paarl last night, 3 June 2026, where a family was allegedly tied up and robbed by five men wearing balaclavas. The suspects reportedly invaded the property and carried out the robbery while concealing their identities. Another farm invasion was also reportedly confirmed in the Stellenbosch area on the same night, although details surrounding that incident remain limited.
