THE KORAN AND THE SEA OF LAGOS. During the battle of OSOGBO in 1840, the Fulani Jihadists were halted in the Oyo/Ibadan axis, to prevent them from reaching the coasts in Lagos. In the 1950s, Ahmadu Bello declared an intention for the jihadists to continue their "uninterrupted conquest to the sea" and to "dip the Koran in the Atlantic Ocean" after the exit of the British. Shortly after the death of Sir. Ahmadu Bello in 1966, the coastal road on the Lagos Atlantic shoreline was renamed to "Sir Ahmadu Bello Way" - a symbolic fulfillment of his dream - dipping the Koran in the sea. On May 29, 1999 a man called Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the current Nigerian President, became the Governor of Lagos state. After two terms of 8 years, he left office on May 9, 2007 and would go on to become the godfather of southwestern Nigerian politics. Upon his entry into active politics, a massive Islamization agenda on the southwestern coast was silently launched to win as many minds, hearts and political structures as possible, and it soon spread like wildfire. Tinubu was instrumental to late Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari’s ascendance to power in May of 2015. A large chunk of the Islamization agenda he perpetuated in the southwest had now been exported to Abuja for national implementation. By September of the same year, just 4 months after Buhari was sworn in, “Operation safe corridor” a.k.a “repentant terrorist program” was conceived. By September of the next year, 2016 the program was launched. Ever since, terrorists with zero ancestral connection to Nigeria have continued to pour into the country to abduct, kill, maim, rape, decapitate, amputate and enslave innocent Nigerians, most of them Christians, on their own soils. They also dispossess locals of their ancestral homelands and farmlands and it continues to this day, only that it’s just gotten worse. With “operation safe corridor” the only punishment these terrorists get for their atrocities is a national pardon, so called “rehabilitation” and then integration into the Nigerian society, even when they’re not Nigerians! On May 29, 2023 Bola Ahmed Tinubu became president, and rather than slow down, terrorist activities got worse, the advancement of Fulani Jihadists towards the coasts of Lagos gained an unusual momentum to the point that as you read this, the terrorists whose activities were mostly concentrated on the northern region in the past years, even under Buhari, are now reportedly in Lagos! So, does it not look like someone has been contracted to sell us all out and ensure that Sir Ahmadu BELLO’s dream of dipping the Koran in the Atlantic ocean is fulfilled in his time, so he’s elevated to the position of a living man-god? Make up your own mind.

Extrajudicial Killing in Effurun The extrajudicial killing of a young Nigerian Mr. Mene Ogidi, in Effurun, Delta State, by a police officer, is not only barbaric but also a grave violation of the rule of law. Over time, human society has moved away from an era when lives could be taken without consequence. Through the evolution of civilisation, a fundamental principle has emerged: no one should be punished or deprived of life without due process and a fair determination of guilt. Such acts inflict unimaginable trauma on the bereaved family and deepen public anxiety in an already distressed society. Nigerians are already traumatised by recurring reports of brutal killings by terror organisations across the country, and incidents of this nature - especially when involving state actors - only worsen that psychological burden and erode public confidence in safety and security. In light of this, while the law must take its full course, I commend the prompt response of the police authorities so far and express confidence that they will pursue this matter to its logical conclusion. Such responsiveness is necessary to reassure the public that justice will not be compromised. I therefore urge the police and all security agencies to sustain this approach by acting with transparency and accountability. Furthermore, recruitment processes must be more rigorous, ensuring that only individuals of sound judgment and the right frame of mind are entrusted with firearms. In the final analysis, these measures can restore public trust and uphold justice - both of which are indispensable to building a new Nigeria that is possible. -PO

3 days ago, the Nigerian Army jumped a fence to shoot and kill an innocent Nigerian youth in his room, a serving NYSC youth. They moped his blood, picked up his brain and called it accidental discharge. Yesterday, a Nigerian policeman shot and killed a restrained youth who said he was sent to pick up a package. He begged for his life. His only request was justice. All he wanted was justice, but he was murdered by those who should protect and give him justice. I am so ashamed and infuriated. The Nigerian youths have faced too much in this country. They have been through so much💔. When would enough be enough?

A lot of things have happened in Africa recently. It’s very obvious Africa is being targeted. Look at Sudan, Mali, Nigeria. A lot of horrible things. The same crime being committed by Jihadists but none of their sponsors has been uncovered.

Peter Obi has fundamentally changed Nigerian politics. As Governor of Anambra, he introduced a new governance style built on prudence and results. His impeachment and subsequent legal battles contributed to the shift to off-season elections we have today. In 2023, his presidential campaign destroyed the myth that governors’ endorsements and rigid party structures are required to win. He built a massive movement on competence, frugality, and youth inclusion. Even after the election, he pursued justice through legitimate legal channels, strengthening democratic norms. While others retreated to Dubai after the polls, Obi remained on the ground for over three years now, holding power accountable with facts, attending seminars, summits, TV shows, podcasts, weddings, burials, and international engagements. He listens, reads, researches, acts, and humbly apologises when wrong. No ego. Just steady, verifiable leadership. Nigeria needs this same energy, humility, and innovation at the presidential level. Against the incumbent APC administration, Peter Obi represents a fresh, results-driven alternative. He has already changed how opposition politics is played, and by God's grace as president, he will change governance itself. Peter Obi is the right leader for this moment. This morning, I was returning from a condolence visit here in Lagos. A townsman had sadly lost his wife to the cold hands of death. After spending a good part of the day there, I decided to drive straight to my office instead of going back home first as I had originally planned. Lagos life no dey wait for anybody—if you blink twice, hold-up will use your destiny to do rehearsal. Barely ten minutes into the journey, I was flagged down by the Nigerian police. In true Naija fashion, they used the vehicle in front of mine as human shield to stop me—as if we were filming an action movie. I was about to properly park, but the officer immediately started demanding my driver’s license right there in the middle of the expressway. I politely asked him to allow me park first so I wouldn’t cause obstruction, but oga said no. Before I could say “Officer, calm down,” traffic had already started building up like JAMB website during registration season. After plenty back and forth, he finally allowed me to park halfway along the Isheri-Idimu Expressway. I handed him my driver’s license. He checked it and returned it. Next, he asked for my vehicle license. I gave it to him. Then he requested for roadworthiness. I handed that over too. Suddenly, his mood changed like NEPA light during rainy season. He flared up and started shouting that I did not give him all the documents at once. I was confused. I simply gave him exactly what he asked for, one after the other. But apparently, in his own constitution, I was supposed to have read his mind and submitted my entire family tree. He began yelling that I was wasting his time. I asked him calmly, “Officer, how exactly am I wasting your time?” The next statement shocked me: “I will change it for you o! In fact, come and open your boot!” At that point, tempers were rising on both sides. I told him, perhaps with more confidence than wisdom, to go and open it himself. But quickly remembering that what Nigerian Police officers cannot do does not exist, I decided to come down and open it myself before my village people would be accused. He searched my boot like he was looking for the missing budget of the federation. He scattered everything. Then he entered the car, opened compartments, checked under seats—searching for what was not lost. Meanwhile, while he was performing his ministry, I was quietly recording him with my phone. When he finally realized I was videoing him, ah! Ladies and gentlemen, the atmosphere changed immediately. Heaven did not fall, but hell applied for overtime. He insulted me.He called me names.He raised his voice. But trust me, it was aura for aura, egusi for egusi, pepper for pepper, back to sender with express delivery. At the end of the day, the devil searched but found nothing on the son of man. No contraband.No hidden treasure.No “something for the boys.” Just an innocent man trying to survive Lagos and reach his office in peace. Eventually, I entered my car and drove off, leaving behind the drama, the dust, and one very disappointed officer whose fishing expedition returned no catch. Moral lessons: First, integrity is expensive, but it saves you from unnecessary fear. When your hands are clean, your confidence becomes your defense. Second, power without courtesy becomes oppression. Uniform should command respect, not fear. Third, wisdom matters. In Nigeria, sometimes you need the patience of Job, the boldness of David, and the prayer life of Elijah just to survive one police checkpoint. And finally, life itself is unpredictable. From attending a condolence visit in the morning to almost acting Season 2 of “Police Wahala” by afternoon, one thing is clear: every day in Lagos deserves its own Nollywood documentary. This is not a mere oversight; it points to institutionalised corruption on a massive scale. In 1994, when the Okigbo Panel reported about $12.4 billion from the Gulf War oil windfall as unaccounted for, Nigerians were outraged and the nation shook with indignation. Today, an even more troubling situation appears to be unfolding, yet it is met with a disquietening silence. We are trapped in a lethal paradox: Earning more as a nation, yet having less to invest in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. From 2025, systemic “deductions” have allowed agencies to capture more resources than entire states and even critical ministries. These leakages explain why countries with fewer resources are out-performing us across key development indices. With such a broken system, how can we fix power, strengthen our schools, build resilient healthcare, or develop critical infrastructure? Nigeria has no business being poor. We must stop these leakages through disciplined, transparent leadership driven by character. It is time to redirect our hijacked resources back to the people and move Nigeria into the league of developed nations. With our collective resolve to change this corruption-infested system, a New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
