This is an important moment in the history of our democracy. There’s a comprehensive assault on basic civil liberties - the right to strike, right to protest peacefully & right of journalists to report without arrest. Time has come for a new movement to defend our civil liberties
If you believe in women's suffrage, you believe in the right to protest. If you oppose apartheid, you believe in the right to protest. If you think our children deserve a liveable future, you believe in the right to protest. Defend our freedoms. Repeal the Public Order Bill!
Nurses work tirelessly to keep us all safe. Steve Barclay could have given NHS staff the pay rise they deserve. He decided to take them to court instead. What a disgraceful attack on healthcare workers. Solidarity with members of @theRCN striking to save our NHS.
Inflation is not caused by workers’ wages. It’s caused by corporate greed and profiteering. This government needs to get a grip. Tax the rich, introduce price controls on staple foods, and bring our utilities back into public ownership.
Record levels of inflation. Crumbling public services. More foodbanks than branches of McDonalds. We need a real alternative.
Years of underfunding and academisation have left our schools in crisis. Invest in the future of our children, give teachers the pay rise they deserve, and restore education as a fundamental right for all.
More than 1.5 million over-60s in the UK are reducing or stopping their social care because they cannot afford it. Our broken system of social care is too expensive — and the cost falls on those least able to pay. We need a National Care Service, free for all who need it.
Let the record show!
We don't build safer communities with dog-whistle politics. We build safer communities with investment in education, housing, mental health & youth services. Instead of sinking into the gutter, we should offer hope in a better world.
This is not the sort of politics a Labour Party, confident of its own values and preparing to govern, should be engaged in. I say to the people who have taken the decision to publish this ad, please withdraw it. We, the Labour Party, are better than this.
Asylum seekers are not enemies to be captured. They are human beings to be welcomed. They deserve protection. They deserve the right to contribute to our society. And they deserve to live in safe, decent & comfortable housing, just like anyone else.
