.@IndiarioPR hizo referencia a estas expresiones mías sobre las del Congresista Tom McClintock a favor de la independencia de Puerto Rico — y su decisión de reunirse públicamente con separatistas radicales — son decepcionantes y están completamente desconectadas de la realidad. Al posar junto a Juan Dalmau, quien apoya a las dictaduras socialistas de Nicolás Maduro en Venezuela y al régimen comunista de Cuba, el Congresista envía un mensaje equivocado. Dalmau no representa a Puerto Rico. Representa a una minoría extremista que nunca ha ganado una elección. La gran mayoría del pueblo puertorriqueño ha sido clara: creemos en Estados Unidos, en la democracia y en nuestra ciudadanía americana. Aún peor, Dalmau habla constantemente de dignidad y justicia para Puerto Rico, mientras se alinea con gobiernos que persiguen a su pueblo, violan los derechos humanos y promueven ideologías racistas y antiamericanas. Dice luchar por Puerto Rico, pero está en contra de lo que la mayoría aquí ya ha votado: la igualdad a través de la estadidad. También preocupa ver al Congresista McClintock alinearse con Luis Gutiérrez — un excongresista que apoyó el perdón a terroristas. Gutiérrez siempre ha representado el ala más extrema de la izquierda, promoviendo ideas que muchos republicanos rechazan firmemente. Lo que no se entiende es por qué un republicano de California — un estado plagado por políticas progresistas fuera de control — decide apoyar a los radicales en vez de respaldar a los puertorriqueños que viven y defienden valores conservadores. En muchos sentidos, Puerto Rico defiende con más fuerza la fe, la familia y el patriotismo que algunas comunidades del propio distrito del Congresista. En lugar de llamar a Puerto Rico una “isla hermosa” y sugerir que deberíamos ser un país aliado, el Congresista debe respetar al pueblo y los votos de esta Isla. Hemos elegido la estadidad no una, ni dos, sino tres veces — en 2012, 2017 y 2020. Nuestro Gobernador, el Presidente del Senado y el Presidente de la Cámara apoyan la estadidad, al igual que la mayoría del electorado. Puerto Rico no es un país extranjero. Somos parte de los Estados Unidos. Hemos luchado en cada guerra americana desde 1917. Pagamos impuestos. Servimos en las Fuerzas Armadas. Y merecemos los mismos derechos que cualquier otro ciudadano estadounidense. Seamos claros: rechazamos el socialismo, rechazamos la independencia, y defendemos con orgullo los valores conservadores, a los Estados Unidos y la estadidad. Ya es hora de que a Puerto Rico se le trate con la dignidad y la igualdad que se ha ganado.

📄 About @RepMcClintock’s comments in support of Puerto Rico’s independence — and his posing with hypocrites, radical separatists and socialists — deeply out of touch with reality. ————— By standing next to Juan Dalmau, who has supported the socialist dictatorships of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela and the Cuban regime, the Congressman sends the wrong message. Dalmau doesn’t represent Puerto Rico. He represents a fringe movement that has never won a majority in any election. The vast majority of Puerto Ricans have made it clear: we believe in the United States, in democracy, and in our American citizenship. Even worse, Dalmau constantly talks about dignity and justice for Puerto Rico, while aligning himself with governments that silence their people, violate human rights, and promote racist, anti-American ideologies. He claims to fight for Puerto Rico, but he’s against what most people here have already voted for — equality through statehood. It’s also ridiculous to see Congressman McClintock align himself with Luis Gutiérrez — a former Congressman who supported the pardon of terrorists. Gutiérrez has always been on the far left, pushing the same ideas that many Republicans strongly oppose. What’s confusing is why a Republican from California — a state dealing with out-of-control progressive policies — would side with radicals instead of supporting Puerto Ricans who actually live conservative values. In many ways, Puerto Rico holds stronger conservative views, and patriotism than some of the places Congressman McClintock represents. Instead of calling Puerto Rico a “beautiful island” and suggesting we should be a foreign ally, the Congressman should respect the will of the people and the votes. We’ve chosen statehood not once, not twice, but four times — in 2012, 2017, 2020 and as recent as 2024. Our republican Governor, our republican Senate President, and our republican Speaker of the House, along with the legislative majorities all support statehood, as well as the majority of voters. Puerto Rico is not a foreign country. We are part of the United States. We’ve fought in every American war since 1917. We pay taxes. We serve. And we deserve the same rights as every other U.S. Citizen. We reject socialism, we reject independence, and we stand proudly for conservative values, for the United States, and for statehood. It’s time Puerto Rico is treated with the dignity and equality we’ve earned! 🇺🇸
