When you call 9-1-1 in Portland, get ready for the long wait to get even longer. koin.com/news/portland/… The Portland City council just passed a ridiculous budget that cuts police and fire services, which should be the bedrock of any city. Citywide average response time for Portland sits at 19 minutes but in some areas you might wait as long as half an hour. The new budget approved by the 12 members of Portland's bloated new city council cuts police positions, and overtime, and about 20-thousand hours of regular police service. So, a city with an overall budget of 8 and a half billion spending less than ten percent of that amount on all public safety sees fit to cut even more. At the same time, the city considers spending hundreds of millions of dollars to subsidize a sports arena for a ball team owned by a billionaire. Like they say, Don't TELL me what you value. Show me your budget, and that tells me what you value.

Democratic Party of Oregon staff thought the &500k contribution came from FTX based in part on an article in which an FTX donation was misreported. Exec Director told staff not to circulate that article and DPO misreported in exactly the same way.

I do object to the double standard applied to the benefit of the so-called homeless. Multnomah and Washington Counties have banned all forms of burning including land clearing and even recreational stuff like your backyard fire pit. A single ember could destroy property and put lives in danger. So, why don’t these rules apply double to those who make their homes in homeless shanty camps? I figure it’s politics. The homeless population of Portland makes up less than 2 percent of the population. But the city’s Fire Bureau says almost half of all fires it responds to are caused by the homeless. The homeless cook and heat with fires, both propane and wood. And if a fire threatens to get out of control, where do you suppose they find a garden hose on those tents? I only wish the mainstream legacy media would go out to the homeless camps, show the burn ban violations. Then question officials about why the same rules don’t apply to all of us equally….or are the homeless, like illegal aliens, more equal than others..
