As we prepare to release Astra, we’re focused on making increasingly capable AI safe and broadly accessible.
Astra represents a significant advance in cybersecurity capability, reaching the Critical threshold under our Preparedness Framework.
We're previewing how we evaluated the model, how its safeguards have advanced alongside its capabilities, and what we'll continue to learn and improve.

Today, we’re bringing ChatGPT closer to the systems, information, and workflows healthcare teams already rely on. ♥️
We’re introducing a new EHR integration to connect supported Epic environments to ChatGPT and a plugin connecting to nine additional industry data sources.
Another Update: in openai, we ARE continuously working on Prism, the scientific/technical writing surface. It is owned by a small team; improvements are coming, although we wish we can ship more. The best way to get update is our discord channel. @vicapow and I are there for you.
We’re ending our partnership with Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX. Under our proposal, Cursor’s direct access to our models would end on November 12.
We know that the people most affected by this decision are the developers who rely on OpenAI models in Cursor. We care about their experience in this transition and we’re ready to go above and beyond to support them.

We have a limited window to strengthen cyber defenses, and together with organizations including @AnthropicAI, @awscloud, @Google, @Microsoft, and @Oracle, we're calling for a global effort to give defenders the tools, resources, and support to protect the infrastructure we all depend on.
If we act decisively, we can turn today's AI advances into lasting improvements in security and make our digital world safer for everyone.

We worked with METR and Redwood Research to conduct a third-party assessment of the model behavior observed during the incident.
They’re sharing a report of their findings:

We have conducted a thorough investigation into the Hugging Face incident.
We are releasing a technical report and accompanying blog post that reconstruct the agents’ activity, explain why existing safeguards failed, and detail how we’re preventing recurrence.

ChatGPT Work can now use its computer and browser to sign in to websites on web and mobile, without ChatGPT ever seeing your username or password.
That means you can ask it to:
• Set up utilities for a new apartment
• Book a DMV or passport appointment
• Check reimbursement costs through your insurance
• Find and book an in-network doctor around your availability
• Check when your car registration expires and prepare the renewal paperwork
• Compare your rental insurance policy with an issue you’re emailing your landlord about
• Find and save apartment listings that match your criteria
• Restock something just by uploading a photo
• Schedule a package pickup for a return
• Cancel tickets for a rescheduled trip
• Book a vet appointment
• Submit reimbursement paperwork for medical treatments
• Check resale sites for new drops and save things you might like
• Find candidates with specific experience and draft outreach
• Take invoices from your email and submit them to your accounting software
• Draft replies to rental property inquiries
• Fill out permit applications for your small business
• Add action items to a vendor portal based on a recent client call
• Analyze the latest ad campaign for your small business

We plan to begin deploying Jalapeño in OpenAI’s compute infrastructure by year-end.
It’s the first step in a multigenerational roadmap: Gen 2 is deep in development, and Gen 3 is taking shape.
Each generation will push efficiency and speed further.
openai.com/index/jalapeno…
Since announcing Jalapeño, our first custom inference chip, we’ve been testing it and the system around it.
The results show a major advance: more intelligence from every watt and faster responses, delivering both higher throughput and lower latency in one architecture without sacrificing efficiency.
This week’s ChatGPT feature drop - Aug 21:
Another Friday, another roundup of what we shipped this week:
1/ Recent photos: Long press on + menu to quickly attach recents on iOS - this is a fun, power user feature. just beautiful design! also a handy shortcut.
2/ Time: We made it so ChatGPT better understands your current time. It was surprisingly bad at this before, for some interesting, complex reasons. Now it's better!
3/ Long convo loading: Long conversations load and run faster on chatgpt.com. Less waiting = better.
4/ 'No internet' errors: We show clearer updates in the UI when you’re waiting for an internet connection. It's so frustrating when ChatGPT times out. Now at least you'll know why, when it's the internet.
thanks to the crew that keeps shipping every week and hope you all enjoy 🚀
Now available on the API and rolling out across eligible plans for ChatGPT Work and Codex credits.
Pro, Plus, and Business subscription usage remains unchanged.
developers.openai.com/api/docs/prici…
As we continue to push the frontier of capabilities while improving efficiency, we're dropping API and credit pricing of GPT-5.6 Sol by over 20% for the next 3 months.
ChatGPT can now remember your activity across the apps and websites on your computer.
With Computer History in the desktop app, future interactions feel more personalized and require less explanation.
We will continue to offer Zero Data Retention for frontier models.
As AI takes on longer, more autonomous work and delivers greater value to businesses, safety systems also need to identify risks across related interactions.
To help address those risks, we're previewing Private Safety Processing, which is designed to improve safety without giving OpenAI personnel access to the underlying content.
