The Met Gala perfectly embodies everything wrong with our current economic system. Every year, ghostly billionaires and Hollywood elites strut down the red carpet in outfits that cost more than many Americans’ homes, while millions of working people are forced to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. Let’s stop pretending this is a “charity event.” The Metropolitan Museum of Art receives roughly $30 million annually in taxpayer funding from New York City and the U.S. government. This year alone, $25 million in public money went toward major lighting upgrades. The truth is stark: Jeff Bezos’s fortune was built by Amazon warehouse and delivery workers. The extravagant gowns and art installations are created by underpaid laborers. The museum staff who keep the event running are often paid poverty wages. Yet it is the ultra-wealthy like Bezos and his wife who show up to pose as generous patrons of the arts, using the gala to launder their public image. While Bezos has extracted hundreds of billions, many of his delivery drivers have been reduced to urinating in bottles to meet impossible quotas. The attendees of the Met Gala are not harmless celebrities they are the visible symbols of a predatory economic elite. We should treat them as such, and refuse to support or celebrate the industries and platforms they dominate.

Ama beden yine de koşuyormuş gibi yaşar. Sorun stres değil. Sürekli açık kalan alarmdır. Ve modern insanın en büyük paradoksu şudur: Zekâ sayesinde geleceği planlayabiliyoruz.
