الاختبار اللذي يفصل بين الحياة والموت .. داخل العنايه نستخدم هذا الفحص الذي يسمى caloric test عشان نتاكد هل مازال جذع المخ شغال ام لا. - ايه اللي بيحصل؟ بنحقن ماء بارد جداً داهل الأذن لاستثارة الجهاز الدهليزي طب ليه مية باردة جوه الأذن؟ لأن الأذن الداخلية مرتبطة مباشرة ب ال Vestibular وده المسؤول عن التوازن وحركة العين.. . رد الفعل الطبيعي: المخ بيبعت إشارة فورية بتخلي العين تتحرك حركة لا إرادية الغياب لو مفيش أي حركة، هذا معناه توقف رد فعل جذع المخ تماماً. هو علامة مؤكده للموت خلاص لكن هل نقوم بإزالة الأجهزة ؟ الموضوع حساس جداً، قانونياً وطبياً ودينياً والإجابة المختصرة هي: لأ ما بنشيلش الأجهزة قانوناً هو توقف القلب والتنفس تماماً، وليس "الموت الدماغي" فقط. طالما القلب لسه بينبض حتى لو بمساعدة الأجهزة والأدوية الطبيب ممنوع قانوناً إنه يفصل جهاز التنفس الصناعي لو عمل هكذا ممكن يواجه تهمة طبيب تهمة جنائية .
