For one thing, I’ve been broke before. A lot of media people have never had that experience. Having to pay for gas with quarters you found in your cup holder has a clarifying effect. For another, regardless of your own personal experiences, being America First should fundamentally mean caring about and prioritizing the well being of your own people, Americans. Downplaying affordability concerns is antithetical to America First principles as I see it. Finally, I’ll note that a lot of conservative commentators have a “bootstraps” mentality that always wants to emphasize personal responsibility over policy solutions. I understand that reflex and share that mentality to a large extent, as anyone who’s followed me for a while knows. Still, no amount of personal responsibility by an individual citizen can bring about mass deportations, or the end of the Welfare State that’s bleeding the working man dry, nor can it stop pointless foreign wars, or address any of a dozen other policy-level issues that are causing every day life to be far more costly and financially burdensome than it should be.

Wild video shows Democratic congressional candidate Kirill Basin involved in an unhinged beach brawl in Maui after allegedly threatening beachgoers with a knife. Officials say the incident began when a 61-year-old man asked Basin to lower the volume of his music. According to reports, Basin then threatened the man by implying he had a firearm and would shoot the man's wife. Footage shows Basin making threats to people on the beach, including, “I’ll put you in the f*****g ground,” before a bystander steps in to try to defuse the situation. The confrontation turns violent and ends with Basin appearing to be knocked unconscious on the ground. Police arrested the 40-year-old and charged him with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. Basin, who was running against Rep. Jill Tokuda for Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District, was held on $1 million bail.

INSANE JB Pritzker just approved SB3341 which allows MINORS to get birth control medications, implants, and IUDs WITHOUT parental knowledge or consent. Minors can get prescriptions from doctors, fill it at a pharmacy, and pick it up, all without a legal guardian or parent.

Honest question, is it just me, or did basically no one cook in college? Meal plans are mostly for dorm students. I had a job through college, as did most of my friends. We ate out a lot as hourly workers. We were thrifty, and ate anything free we could find, but didn’t cook.
