FIRST BASKET MODEL 02/05 Betting NBA first baskets? Start Here. Players from every game that I studied and I like showing up early:

Flyers Vs Bruins -Flyers -Trevor Zegras has been solid against Boston over his first four meetings with them, having 3+ SOG in each matchup. He scored against them last year, and considering the Bruins are bottom-five in SOG allowed to centers, and bottom-five against all positions, it’s the perfect storm for him to find the back of the net. -Bruins -David Pastnak is my favorite pick from the Bruins again tonight. He’s consistent and a leader for this team, and there’s no one else who’s more trustworthy, especially at home, where he’s had 4+ SOG in seven straight. Kings Vs Sabres -Kings -Brandt Clarke is the pick from the Kings in this one. He’s been solid in the SOG category, having 2+ in eight of his past 10 games. Plus, the Sabres are in the bottom half of the league when it comes to SOG against, so it could be a good spot for the Kings' defenseman to score tonight. -Sabres -If you’re ever wondering who to take to score a goal for the Sabres, Alex Tuch is usually a safe bet. Tuch has scored in three of his past four home games and in three of his past four against the Kings. Avalanche Vs Canadiens -Avalanche -Nathan MacKinnon seemingly loves to play the Canadiens, as he’s had two goals over their past four meetings, and has been a SOG machine in those matchups. It’s been four games since he’s scored, too, so tonight could be the right game for him to get back on track in that aspect. -Canadiens -Cole Caufield might be the hottest player in the league when it comes to scoring goals. He’s scored in his last six contests, and there’s no one else we can consider from the Canadiens’ roster until this streak comes to an end. Jets Vs Lightning -Jets -Gabriel Vilardi is my pick from the Jets here in a difficult matchup with the Lightning’s defense. They allow the seventh-fewest SOG to centers this season, which could make it tough for Vilardi and his teammates to have opportunities. However, with him having 2+ SOG in five straight, there’s reason to believe he can be successful against any opponent. -Lightning -Anthony Cirelli has been lights-out at home, scoring in four of his last five games in front of his friendly home crowd. The Jets are a tough matchup on paper, as they allow the fourth-fewest goals to centers, but if anyone is going to break through, my money is on Cirelli. Predators Vs Devils -Predators -Steven Stamkos has been playing well all season, but he’s been particularly solid on the road lately. He’s had 2+ SOG in six straight away games, and considering he’s scored four goals over his past three contests, Stamkos is a great option to repeat that success tonight. -Devils -Jesper Bratt has been consistent over his past four meetings with the Predators, having at least 2 SOG in three of them. While he hasn’t scored in any of those games, his volume suggests that he’s getting opportunities, and that perhaps, tonight is the night for him to change his luck in that area. Islanders Vs Rangers -Islanders -Mathew Barzal was my pick from the Islanders to score last night, which worked out well, so I’m riding with him again tonight. While his goal last night was encouraging, what’s even more encouraging is that he’s had 2+ SOG in seven straight matchups with the Rangers. This is a team that he’s seemed to figure out, and is a great candidate to snag a goal or two. -Rangers -Mika Zibanejad is my pick from the Rangers tonight. He scored last night against the Islanders on just two SOG, and considering seven total goals were scored in that matchup, there’s plenty of reason to believe that this one will also be high-scoring. Blackhawks Vs Penguins -Blackhawks -Frank Nazar continues to be a bright spot on a Blackhawks team that is mostly uninspiring. He’s had 2+ SOG in four straight games, and while he hasn’t scored during that timeframe, his moment is coming. Even though the Penguins present a tough matchup, his volume gives me hope that he can find the back of the net tonight. -Penguins -Justin Brazeau is the move from the Penguins tonight, if for no other reason than seeing what he did against the Blackhawks earlier this year. He had three SOG, scoring on all of them, and while it’ll be nearly impossible to re-create that SOG/G ratio again, it’s not unrealistic for him to score at least once tonight. Mammoth Vs Hurricanes -Mammoth -JJ Peterka has been impressive against the Hurricanes, scoring in his last two games against them. The Hurricanes are best in the league when it comes to SOG allowed in general, and to centers, specifically, as well, so this isn’t going to be easy for Peterka. After looking at his previous outings against them, though, he’s certainly my top pick for the Mammoth. -Hurricanes -Andrei Svechnikov has been on fire lately. He’s scored in three of his last four games, including a three-goal outing against the Devils earlier this month. If anyone is going to find a way to get through the Mammoth’s tough defense, it’ll be Svechnikov. Capitals Vs Red Wings -Capitals -Dylan Strome has been consistent against the Red Wings throughout his career, having two or more SOG in four straight matchups. He’s only had one goal during that span, but that can be chalked up to bad luck more than anything else. -Red Wings -Alex DeBrincat loves playing in front of his home crowd in Detroit. He’s scored in four straight games at home, a trend I would love to see continue tonight. The Capitals aren’t an easy team to score on, but with DeBrincat’s home track record in mind, it’s hard to bet against him.
